Anna
has been a Social Worker in the VI for the last 20 years.
Her employment history includes agencies such as Catholic
Charities, Department of Human Services, Lutheran Social
Services, Frederiksted Health Center, and Juan F. Luis
Hospital & Medical Center, where she’s presently
employed as a Medical Social Worker. She received her
Bachelor of Social Work at Clark Atlanta University
and Master of Arts in Administration at the University
of the VI, St. Croix campus. Anna has held various positions
on the NASW-VI board over the years and is fully committed
to NASW and the social work profession. Her favorite
quote is, “Life is not measured by the number
of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our
breath away.” She is a native New Yorker and proud
mother of one, Aliyah Makeda.
Position
Duties: The President is initially elected
to the Board as President-Elect one year in advance
of assuming the duties of the office of President. The
President is the presiding officer of the Board of Directors
and Executive Committee and an ex-officio member of
all standing committees; represents the Board of Directors
between meetings and reports to the Board of Directors
on all important interim actions; in consultation with
the Board of Directors, makes all appropriate committee,
task force, and other appointments; is available to
consult with staff. |

Shana
earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from
Seton Hall University in 1995. She has worked for
Virgin Islands Behavioral Services (VIBS) since 1996
and is currently the Associate Program Director. Working
at VIBS, she developed a passion for working with
children. In 2003, she became a member of NASW while
earning her MSW from Norfolk State University’s
partnership with Department of Human Service. Shana
has been an active member of the organization and
has served on the board of directors. The skills and
knowledge she gained by participating in the MSW program,
in addition to her involvement in NASW, have prepared
Shana for her role as a social wrker.
Position
Duties: Upon completion of their duties President
of the Board of Directors, the President continues
on the Board for one additional year in the capacity
of Past President. The primary role of the Past President
is to ensure a seamless transition to the incoming
President and help maintain completion of the Chapter
Program Priorities set forth by the Board of Directors.

Jean
A. Nesbitt-Matthew graduated from Wayne State University
in Detroit, Michigan in 1985 with a B.A. in Psychology.
In 2004, she earned her Masters Degree in Social Work
from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mrs. Nesbitt-Matthew’s social work career spans
24 years. She is currently serving in the capacity
of District Manager of Child Protective Services and
Interim District Manager of Foster Care. Mrs. Nesbitt-Matthew
is employed with the United States Virgin Islands
Department of Human Services in the St. Croix District
of the Division of Children and Family Services. She
was the Social Services Supervisor of the Virgin Islands
Housing Authority for 19 years. She is married to
George G. Matthew, Sr. and they have two sons, George,
Jr. and Jared. Her philosophy of life is treat others
the way you would like to be treated.
Position
Duties: The Vice President fulfills the
duties of the President in the event of absence or
disability and assumes the Presidency upon the President’s
resignation or inability to discharge the office.
The Vice President is required to meet with the Board
on a quarterly basis as well as attend all NASW-VI
Chapter Board functions.

Jackie
is currently retired but has served as an adjunct professor
at the University of the Virgin Islands and several
universities/colleges in New York state. She was previously
employed as the Director of Social Work and Case Management
for the Center of Alternative Sentencing and Employment,
a criminal justice program in New York City and Clinical
Social Worker and Director of the Outpatient Psychiatric
Clinic for Children at the Office of Mental Health in
New York City. Jackie recently volunteered as a workshop
leader and consultant for the VI Bureau of Corrections
in St. Croix. Jackie has served as the Secretary/Treasurer
of NASW-VI since 2010.
Position
Duties: The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible
for the Board of Directors and Executive Committee meeting
minutes, as well as for the non-fiscal records of the
chapter. In addition, the Secretary/Treasurer is responsible
for all receipt, deposit, disbursement and withdrawal
of all chapter funds and renders regular financial statements
at least quarterly to the Board and Executive Committee.
The Secretary/Treasurer is required to meet with the
Board on a quarterly basis as well as attend all NASW-VI
Chapter Board functions.

Alicia
is a social worker with the Department of Human Services
on the island of St. Croix. During her 15 years of service
with the Department, she has worked with the juvenile
population on island. For the past six years, she's
ventured into the field of Residential Services and
works part-time as a Shift Supervisor at an all female
facility, “The Cottage,” under Virgin Islands
Behavioral Services. Alicia is
a graduate of Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC with
a Bachelors Degree in Social Work (1993). She is the
proud mother of two; daughter Kiara age 14 and son Khaiel
age 9. She also serves the community as a Victim’s
Advocate with the Women’s Coalition from 1999
and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Inc. Mu Gamma Omega Chapter where she's held several
offices.
Position

serves as a representative of the district for which
they are elected. The District Chair is also closely
involved with the recruitment and retention of members,
and the organization of all Chapter activities. The
District Chairperson is required to meet with the Board
on a quarterly basis as well as attend all NASW-VI Chapter
Board functions.

Natasha
earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the
University of the Virgin Islands. She's been a social
worker with the Department of Human Services for the
past 9 years and has worked with many different components
such as Foster Care, Protective Unit, and Juvenile Justice
Services. Her view on life is why put off what you can
do today for tomorrow, because another day is not promised
to you. Natasha is a quiet, but funny, individual who
enjoys life's ongoing challenges. She is the proud mother
of 2 children.

they are elected. The District Chair is also closely
involved with the recruitment and retention of members,
and the organization of all Chapter activities. The
District Chairperson is required to meet with the Board
on a quarterly basis as well as attend all NASW-VI Chapter

Mrs.
Ada-Luz Rivera Flemming has been a social worker for
the past 25 years. She has been working in the Juvenile
Justice Division, Department of Human Services, for
the past 25 years. From 2004 to present, she has held
the position of District Manager of that Division. She
holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Oakwood
College in Huntsville Alabama (1984) and Masters of
Social Work (2004) from Norfolk State University, in
Norfolk, Virginia. Ada-Luz has two children has been
married to Master Sergeant Curtis Flemming for the past
26 years. Ada-Luz has been a member of NASW since March
2011.
Position
Duties: The Member-at-Large represents the
general membership, and supports the Chapter program
plan and Chapter events and activities. The Member-at-Large
serves on the Board of Directors and is required to
attend quarterly meetings.

Rochelle
Davis earned a B.A. in Psychology at the University
of the Virgin Islands in 2005. She has worked as a child
protective care and foster care social worker at the
Department of Human Services for the past five years.
She is currently assigned to the Division of Children
and Family Services Protective Unit. Rochelle has a
passion for helping others and can be found volunteering
for various causes. Her favorite quote is, "each
one, reach one, teach one!"
Position
Duties: The Member-at-Large represents the
general membership, and supports the Chapter program
plan and Chapter events and activities. The Member-at-Large
serves on the Board of Directors and is required to
attend quarterly meetings.
